"Denizen"
A lone cypress tree on Greenfield Lake, Wilmington, North Carolina, grows and thrives amidst dark waters in this reclaimed swamp. The lake was developed in the 1730's to aid rice production, and has been a popular recreation destination since 1912. It was the inspiration for the North Carolina Azalea Festival, per Cape Fear River Watch.org.
